This week our Year 1 and 2 pupils identified which habitat a woodlouse would live in. The children were presented with a tray of four ‘habitats’ - dry and light, wet and light, dark and dry and wet and dark. The children then predicted which habitat the woodlice would go to, making a tally chart on the board. The dark and damp being most popular choice.

They were then very excited to go outside and see if they could find any woodlice in their natural habitats, after discussing where these might be. At the end of the lesson the children discovered that they were right - the woodlice preferred the dark and damp habitat the most.
